What Federal Prevention Efforts Mean Locally

As a new year begins, conversations about substance use often center on enforcement, treatment, or tragic outcomes. While national headlines and federal policy discussions may feel distant, their impact is felt locally every day. Prevention funding directly shapes what programs, partnerships, and resources exist in Lemhi County. A strong prevention system helps reduce strain on schools, law enforcement, and emergency services by addressing risk early and supporting families before problems escalate.

Prevention does not replace enforcement or treatment. It reduces the need for them. By investing in prevention now, communities like Lemhi County are building a safer, healthier future where young people have the support and opportunities they need to thrive.
